It began with something deeply practical, caring for our daughter Jireh Manaakitia & her skin. Wanting something safe, simple & truly nourishing for our own whānau. Something we could trust. Something that worked!
But from the very beginning, Atawhai carried more than just natural & organic ingredients. It carried care… for our babies, your whānau & also the community we’re called to love & serve. Alongside building Atawhai Skincare, our whānau also founded the non-profit Hope & Future Project for the past two years, grounded in respect, love, presence & walking closely with families in the Aboriginal community of Cherbourg. We provide weekly FREE fresh fruit & vegetables for Community, take the young ones out fishing, have community cook ups, support the local Cherbourg Cowboys & so much more.
For us, these aren’t two separate things.
The same care that goes into every balm, every intentional recipe, every product… is the same care that flows into our community. It’s all connected. It’s all intentional.
That’s why 10% of all profits from Atawhai Skincare goes directly toward supporting the Hope & Future Project and the work we do, strengthening families, supporting the next generation & showing up where it matters most.
Not as a marketing idea… but as a natural extension of who we are as a whānau.
When you choose Atawhai, you’re choosing skincare that is thoughtfully made, deeply nourishing & safe for your whole whānau & at the same time, you’re a part of something much bigger than us, a shared way of giving, loving & supporting others through something as simple as what you already use every day.
We don’t believe in overcomplicating skincare.
And we don’t believe in overcomplicating giving & loving either.
Just real, honest Aroha & Atawhai.
Given freely. Shared together.
From our whānau to yours & beyond.
Ngā Mihi,
Hughes whānau
