WHY ATAWHAI?
During Melbourne lockdown, our whānau lived in our caravan home, traveling Australia. When our youngest, Jireh Manaakitia, struggled with eczema, Mum wanted something natural & safe. So she created a Hemp oil balm to soothe her skin. It completely went & never returned!
We began sharing it with others as Taonga Co.
But in a hard season & a broken marriage, Mama gave up on it.
Four years later, more grounded, living & thriving on Wakka Wakka Country. Mum felt the call to pick up again. This time with deeper intention, with both our whānau & yours at the heart of everything!
We named it after our eldest son Hone Atawhai, which means CARE, KINDNESS & GRACE. Which fits perfectly for a Skincare brand.

Will it clog my pores?
No, our products are made with simple, natural oils that are gentle on the skin and designed to nourish without blocking pores. Everyone’s skin is different, but many find it helps bring balance rather than congestion.

Is it safe for pēpi and tamariki?
Yes, our formulations are created with the whole whānau in mind, using minimal, gentle ingredients that are safe for delicate skin. Our Balm works amazing on nappy rash & on the most delicate new skin.
Can I use this on sensitive or eczema-prone skin?
Our products are made to be gentle and soothing, which many people with sensitive skin love. However, we always recommend doing a small patch test first to see how your skin responds. We keep recipes super simple, with no added nasties & toxic fragrances.
Are your products actually natural? I've been fooled before?
